Day 10: Family Christmas

Today we left Straddie, but first we went to brown lake. The water is clear but brown, like tea or coke. There were tadpoles in it too.

We got on the barge and went back to Brisbane. We drove to Minipipi park in Brisbane and met with all of Haidee's cousins and aunties and uncles for 'Family Christmas'. We got secret santa presents. It was super hot and there was a massive spider.

We drove back to Toowoomba and hung out with Binty while Chris and Haidee went out for dinner with friends.

Day 9: Point Lookout

This morning, after breakfast, we all went for a walk to the beach and saw some koalas. At the beach we spotted some dolphins and they came quite close to the shore. We saw a bush curlew (scary bird) and Shakira is writing a little project on them for school.

We drove from Amity to Point Lookout (surf town) and spent the day there. First we did the big sandhill and looked At the rock pools. The sand hill was really big and took a lot of effort to climb, but it was fun running down. The sand is really white and fine and it squeaks when you walk. Shakira is in love with the colour of the ocean.

Next we went to get drools (bakery treats) for morning tea. We did parts of the gorge walk and saw dolphins surfing on waves. We also spotted a sting ray and a turtle.

We went down to main beach but couldn't swim because the life savers had deemed it unsafe. So we went to cylinder beach instead and had a picnic lunch.

We had a blast playing in the twisted forest, catching tadpoles and jumping waves.

Then we went back to Amity, got some lollies from the shop, played at the park and then went to the beach. We swam until sunset and waited for the dolphins. But eventually we got sick of waiting and pretty hungry so we went home for dinner. Wall-E was on TV so we watched that and packed and cleaned in the ads.
